Music Ministry of 35th Avenue Baptist Church

At 35th Avenue Baptist Church we emphasize speaking to one another in psalms, hymns and spiritual songs, not performing or putting on shows.

In accordance with Ephesians 5:19 and Colossians 3:16...
We believe in teaching one another in psalms, so we sing and play a lot of scripture songs, especially from the book of Psalms.
We believe in teaching one another in hymns, so we use the old-time, tried and true gospel hymns which have been so loved by so many saints.
We believe in teaching one another in spiritual songs, so we sing and play songs that have a spiritual message.

We bathe everything in prayer. Our congregational singing is
bold and uplifting. We are not ashamed of the message or the ability or lack thereof to sing or play skillfully. We do the best we can and strive to make our best better. When we have special music (solos, duets, etc.) we rarely have instruments only. We almost always have singing because we believe the message of the song is more important than the music.
Preaching is primary, music is secondary. We just sometimes preach in song - thus the heading Musical Messages.

We emphasize the melody, use a little harmony and only enough rhythm to keep together.

On occasion we will provide video or audio recordings of musical messages for your edification and blessing. It is our prayer that God will use our music to build you up in the faith that was once delivered unto the saints.

One of our young ladies, Cassandra, singing and playing, Near the Cross,
with Pastor Coleman harmonizing with a baritone.

Notice:
It is our belief that God enables people to write songs for God's people to sing and play for their edification and as a testimony to both the saved and the unsaved.
Any songs that are not permitted to be used to bless God's people free of any charge per use will not be used at all in our church. We will do our best to honor the copy rights of the authors of songs, so if a copyrighted song is used, most likely we have obtained permission from the copyright holder. On occasion it may happen that we were unable to confirm whether there is a copyright on a song and will therefore assume it is in the public domain. If it is not public domain, and we are informed of that fact, we will remove it immediately upon notification. This declaration shall act as a denunciation of any willful abrogation of any copyright law.
