Proclaiming Liberty

After being involved for many years in efforts to restore liberty to America and Americans and help return American government back to its constitutional foundation, it became more apparent that the subject of Liberty permeates every facet of our lives. The song many of us learned in public school back in the 60's and earlier, My Country 'Tis of Thee, has a statement in the last verse that many overlook, but that is so true: "Our father's God, to Thee - Author of Liberty, to Thee we sing." God is the Author of Liberty. If God is in all and over all, and He is, then the subject of Liberty is involved in every facet of our lives, just as God is. A fuller realization of this fact led to Pastor Coleman getting the desire to proclaim those principles to a larger audience than just the folks who attend the 35th Avenue Baptist Church.

In 2012, Pastor Coleman started a radio broadcast. After one year, it was determined that it was not the best use of his time or God's money to continue, so the broadcasts are provided below for your edification. The theme was Proclaiming Liberty. Each one is 13.5 minutes long. We plan to eventually have all 36 broadcasts available.

The Liberty Bell has inscribed around the top of the bell a portion of scripture: Proclaim liberty throughout all the land unto all the inhabitants thereof Lev. XXV:X (Leviticus 25:10)

Principles of Liberty

  • Liberty is not the same as freedom.
  • Freedom is the ability to do what you want to do.
  • Liberty is the ability to do what you ought to do
  • Freedom can be good or bad, as some people will want to do good while others will want to do bad. Think about how true that is.
  • Liberty is always good because no one ought to ever do bad.
  • When they do, Liberty is lost.
  • If it is possible to do what one ought to do or to do what one wants to do regardless of whether it is right or wrong, this is proof that there must be a standard of right and wrong.
  • Standards don't evolve, they are established by a working mind and put in writing.
  • This standard must be perfect or Liberty could never be realized or experienced.
  • Since man is not perfect, this standard cannot come from him - it must come from God.
  • Therefore, Liberty only comes to those who follow the principles of God's Word, wittingly or unwittingly.
  • "Where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty." 2 Cor. 3:17
  • Our rights come from God; therefore, the most important thing we can do is value those rights, preserve and defend them.
  • This is the theme of the Declaration of Independence - the preservation of our God-given rights.
  • If we do not defend our rights we do not value them or the God Who gave them.
  • Since Liberty is the ability to do what we ought to do; it is the duty of all to find out what they ought to do.
  • What we ought to do is only known for certain by God.
  • God reveals His will to us in His Word, the Bible.
  • Liberty comes to People who live by the Bible.
  • That's why God blessed America in the early days of our country.
  • "Blessed is the nation whose God is the LORD."  Psalm 33:12
  • That's why God is no longer blessing America, in general. He may be blessing some people and in some pockets of America, but as a whole, America is in decline.
  • We are living on the fast decaying leftover blessings of previous generations.
  • Getting back to faith in God's Word is the only way we can hope to regain God's blessings on our country.
